On Universal Composable Security of Time-Stamping Protocols

چکیده
Time-stamping protocols, which assure that a document was existed at a certain time, are applied to some useful and practical applications such as electronic patent applications and so on. There are two major time-stamping protocols, the simple protocol and the linking protocol. In the former, a time-stamp authority issues a time-stamp token that is the digital signature of the concatenated value of a hashed message and the present time. In the latter, the time-stamp authority issues a time-stamp token that is the hash value of the concatenated value of a hashed message and the previous hash value. Although security requirements and analysis for above time-stamping protocols has been discussed, there are no strict cryptographic security notions for them. In this paper, we reconsider the security requirements for timestamping protocols and define security notions for them, in a universally composable security sense, which was proposed by Canetti. We also show that these notions can be achieved using combinations of a secure key exchange protocol, a secure symmetric encryption scheme, and a secure digital signature scheme. Keyword: time-stamping protocol, universal composable security

Composable Security of Delegated Quantum Computation
Delegating difficult computations to remote large computation facilities, with appropriate security guarantees, is a possible solution for the ever-growing needs of personal computing power. For delegated computation protocols to be usable in a larger context—or simply to securely run two protocols in parallel— the security definitions need to be composable. Here, we define composable security ...
متن کاملUniversally Composable Secure Mobile Agent Computation
We study the security challenges faced by the mobile agent paradigm, where code travels and performs computations on remote hosts in an autonomous manner. We define universally composable security for mobile agent computation that is geared toward a complex networking environment where arbitrary protocol instances may be executing concurrently. Our definition provides security for all the parti...
متن کاملUnconditional and Composable Security Using a Single Stateful Tamper-Proof Hardware Token
Cryptographic assumptions regarding tamper proof hardware tokens have gained increasing attention. Even if the tamper-proof hardware is issued by one of the parties, and hence not necessarily trusted by the other, many tasks become possible: Tamper proof hardware is sufficient for universally composable protocols, for information-theoretically secure protocols, and even allow to create software...
متن کاملA Note on Universal Composable Zero Knowledge in Common Reference String Model
Pass observed that universal composable zero-knowledge (UCZK) protocols in the common reference string (CRS) model, where a common reference string is selected trustily by a trusted third party and is known to all players, lose deniability that is a natural property of any ZK protocol in the plain model [33]. An open problem (or, natural query) raised in the literature is: are there any other e...
متن کاملA Paradox of Quantum Universal Composability
Security of cryptographic protocols under composition is a major concern in cryptography. For classical cryptography Canetti gave a definition of security implying universal composability [Can01]. A protocol proven secure in that sense may replace ideal functionalities in arbitrary applications preserving the overall security of the application. In this contribution we sketch the modifications ...
